School Hours

7:45 a.m. -2:45 p.m.

All school buildings are opened at 7:15 a.m. each morning school is in session.  Students should not arrive before this time.  Upon arrival at school, students must go to breakfast or to a designated area inside the building.

Kindergarten students are dismissed at 2:40 p.m.  Grades one through six dismiss at 2:45 p.m.  Please check with the office of your child's school regarding any questions concerning specific dismissal procedures.  Parents should confirm after school arrangements for students before leaving home each morning.

 

School Closings

In the event it is necessary for the Director of Schools to close schools, delay the start of the school day, or close schools early due to inclement weather or other emergencies, announcements will be made through the following means:

  • Telephone message via "One Call Now".
  • Posting on the Clinton City Schools District website
  • Radio Stations
  •  1380  AM  WYSH 
     94.3 FM  WNFZ
     107.7 FM  WIVK
     100.3 FM  WNOX
     97.5 FM  WJXB
     103.5 FM  WIMZ

The public announcements will report one of the following messages:

All Clinton City Schools are closed, which means:

  • Students do not attend school.
  • All school sponsored activities are canceled.
  • Any after hours activities requiring the use of the building are canceled.

All Clinton City Schools to open one hour late, which means:

  • Students report to school one hour later than the normal starting time.

Please pre-plan for these emergencies.  Arrange for your child to secure a safe mode of transportation to your home.

During the time of emergency or adverse weather, we request that you do not call your child's school or the central office as it is important to keep phone lines free for emergency calls.  All means of communication will be used and all stations listed are notified immediately after a decision is made.  The school system has no control over the time and manner in which the information is reported by individual stations.
